Malawi Update: March-April

Dear Friends,

The time is quickly approaching when Hans and I will board the plane in Toronto on Saturday to take us to Malawi. We are grateful to once again go and meet our Team: John, George and Andrew.  We are so blessed to be a part of this ministry.
We will spend 3 weeks with these wonderful men and their families.  They are doing a great job! Our friend, Mike Eckert, from our home church (LIFE Church, Stratford), will be coming with us. Our goal this time is simply to encourage the Team and help in setting the direction for the future of the ministry.

The plan is to visit several areas where leaders have been trained: especially areas where we have coaches who have caught the vision and basically are doing what John, George and Andrew are doing – expanding the discipleship and leadership training within their own areas.   That’s how the work multiplies, and that’s why we are now seeing the ministry areas running into each other….the north of Malawi has many leaders trained and many, many life groups functioning with well-trained leaders and apprentices.

There are 1.5 million people in the northern Tumbuka speaking area of Malawi.  Over 15,000 Discipleship booklets and New Testaments have been distributed by the DCI Team (and therefore, used for discipling) in this area.  That means that  one in every 100 people has been reached and discipled.  DCI IS making a difference!

We will come home with lots of stories and reports the end of April.  Some of them we hope to share with you at our Malawi Appreciation Dinner. Update to the dinner:  change of date – Saturday June 10, 5:30 at Bethel Pentecostal Church.  (In our previous newsletter, we said June 11.) Come and enjoy a dinner with us in celebration of God’s greatness.  Patti Hill will be our guest for music again.  You may remember her from 3 years ago.  Everyone loved her, and we appreciate her willingness to come again. Formal invitations will come soon but please mark your calendars.

I am attaching a report that we received from our Team recently.  I hope these reports are as encouraging to you as they are to us. Malawi 3/2017 newsletter

For those not yet partnering with us, please consider becoming a partner. The ministry is growing and needs you. Praise God for His abundant blessings! Thank you so much for your support in prayer and in finances.

With love,

Hans and Elly Timmermans
