Who would have thought?!

I want to tell you about Julius, a child from Uganda we sponsored through Compassion International for many years. After he graduated our connection through Compassion was severed. Many years later I received a question on Facebook, “Are you my parents, Hans and Elly Timmermans?” We began to communicate by email and learned he was connected with an outreach ministry called Practical Evangelism Volunteers Connection Ministries (PEVCM) in the Kisoro area of South Western Uganda. I wound up sending him digital copies of the Dynamic Basics and Dynamic Discipling to use with that ministry.

A few days ago I received and email from Charles Kivengeni also from Kisoro (located in the South West tip of Uganda). I didn’t recognize his name, but after some back and forth discovered that he was involved with PEVCM. PEVCM helps children and widows who are underprivileged and needy. They also help refugees from the nearby Congo conflicts. They are using the one-to-one discipling manuals I gave Julius so many years ago to reach these people with the Good News.

Charles told me that the Dynamic Churches International materials, the Dynamic Basics and the Dynamic Discipling, I provided so long ago had been used to start Life Groups that became churches in his area.

God is using Dynamic Churches for His glory!
Thank you!

Gospel Success in the Jenda area and Zambia

During last Friday’s Zoom meeting the team recounted their challenging recent trip to the Mzimba area of Malawi, where they experienced multiple appointment cancellations due to funerals and sudden deaths in various communities.

Caleb shared specific stories about a young person, a motorcycle mechanic who passed away in a road accident. He also told about a neighbour who suddenly died while caring for sick family members.

The team also visited Life Groups in the Jenda area, with Brian Mkandawere taking them to Mbawa and Mzoma, where they found people who were continuing with regular Bible studies since a year earlier.

Brian M.

John reported on Brian’s extensive ministry work over the years across multiple regions. He has trained 108 leaders and 188 Life Groups in Zambia, across the border of Malawi. Over the years he has started 512 Life Groups in Malawi.

Brian has a unique approach to developing Life Groups. He may have 90 Life Groups in a certain area, but only 40 leaders. Some leaders may lead different groups on different days while new leaders are being developed. God has given us hundreds of dedicated leaders like Brian in Malawi and surrounding countries.

They serve because they love Jesus and they train, disciple the people they meet, often travelling many KMs on foot or in whatever means they can find. What DCI gives them is encouragement and the necessary materials and New Testaments they need for this work. Thank you, Lord!
